About Peter Phelps

Hello, and thank you for visiting my website.

If you are looking for help with emotional or psychological issues such as anxiety, confidence, motivation, unwanted habits, phobias, relationship or communication problems, I can help you. No two people are the same, or have exactly the same problems, but with years of training and experience I can draw on a range of approaches to help you to change your life for the better.

I believe that empathy and understanding are essential to enable you to overcome your problems, along with trust, honesty, and knowledge. If you would like to talk to me and find out how I can help, or book an appointment, please feel free to call, text or email me.

Since 2001 I have also developed my own very effective method of stopping smoking. You can find out more on my 'stop smoking' page.

Now let me tell you a bit more about myself. I was born in Forest Gate in 1960, and have lived and worked in East London for most of my life. Since leaving school I have worked in a wide range of jobs; everything from building work to banking, with my main careers being in the Civil Service, the Police and Newham Youth Offending Team, working with young offenders and victims of crime.

In the late 1990s my wife, Donna, went into therapy following close family bereavements. The change in our lives was amazing, and led to us both deciding to train as therapists. In 2001 I completed a Diploma in Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and opened my first practice in Burges Road, East Ham.

These days I live in Hornchurch with Donna, our daughter, Katie, and our baby son, Morgan. I now have practices in the City of London, Stratford, South Woodford and Romford, I have continued my hypnotherapy and counselling training to advanced level, and have trained in a range of other therapeutic approaches.

My qualifications and memberships include;

Dip.SACH.Hyp - Diploma in Cognitive and Analytical Hypnotherapy awarded by SACH (The School of Analytical and Cognitive Hypnotherapy) and externally accredited by the NCFE

BACP - British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy - As a member of BACP, I am bound by it's Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure for the time being in force.

SQHP - Senior Qualification in Hypnotherapy Practice, awarded by the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC)

UKCHO - Registered member of the UK Council of Hypnotherapy Organisations

NRRH - Registered member of the National Regulatory Register for Hypnotherapy

GHR Reg. - Member of the General Hypnotherapy Register

UKHR - Member of the UK Hypnotherapy Register

MHA - Full member of the Hypnotherapy Association

I am also a certified practitioner of Solution Focussed Brief Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Non-Violent Communication (NVC) .

The most important thing, however, is the rapport between client and therapist, built on understanding and trust. My promise to my clients is :-

Once again thanks for visiting my site, best wishes,

Peter.
